New Life

When my Grandfather died, I had a very difficult time. For almost a year, I lost myself and I lost my art. Life didn't seem to hold any meaning anymore... and then my cousin was born. She was all blue eyes and smiles, and she looked so much like my Grandpa... When I looked at her one day, all bundled up against the cold, she looked back at me with those eyes that seemed so much older than herself - and I knew suddenly what life was about. I realized what I'd forgotten for that year, and I realized that the loss of my Grandfather didn't mean the end of all things, but instead the possibility for new life. This was my first drawing after he died. I will never stop drawing, not again. This is my inspiration, and my remembrance.
